Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund II Grants through Federal CRRSAA Act (Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2021)

Creighton University has signed and returned to the Department of Education the Certification and Agreement for the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund II (HEERF). Creighton University will be receiving $4,790,999 and $1,596,671 will be used to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students that need additional assistance in meeting components of their cost of attendance or for emergency costs that arise due to coronavirus, such as tuition, food, housing, health care (including mental health care) or child care. Emergency assistance for these allowable expenses will be provided in accordance with institutional policy and guidance from the US Department of Education.

If students have experienced significant educational-related expenses as a result of COVID-19 and want to be considered for a CRRSAA grant, they should complete our application for these funds.

This grant may be used for any component of your cost of attendance or for emergency costs that arise due to coronavirus, such as tuition, food, housing, health care (including mental health care) or child care. Guidance provided by the Department of Education requires students to be a U.S. citizen or eligible noncitizen, with prioritization given to students with exceptional need.

To be considered for CRRSAA Act assistance, complete and submit the application for assistance by 11:59 pm on March 15, 2021. A review committee will evaluate each request on an individual basis and grant award notifications will be sent no later than March 26, 2021. Submitting this form does not guarantee you will receive CRRSAA Act funding.

According to guidance from the Department of Education, the maximum award is $6,195. However, the actual award amounts will vary depending upon the number of requests for funding and a committee evaluation of financial need.

Students will need to be signed up for Direct Deposit in the NEST so that Creighton University can promptly make these grants available to the recipients. To sign up for direct deposit, please complete the following steps:

1. Login to NEST.

2. Select “Student Accounts.”

3. Select “Sign up for Direct Deposit of Refunds.”

4. Enter your bank’s routing number (this is NOT the number on a deposit ticket, you will need an actual check), your account number and designate the account type as a checking or savings.

5. Select “Submit.”

6. Read through the Direct Deposit Agreement, print a copy for your records, and select “I Agree” at the bottom of the page.
